The Hedgehog Housing Project is quite a unique setup.
A time-honoured, simple and easily accessible building method has been combined with cutting edge sustainability targets.
A group of future tenants sign up to become builders on a building project that will result in 10 rent-houses. Furthermore they get the right to be amongst the future tenants. A basic design is agreed to, which the participants can alter slightly. By being sort of owner-build, the final cost is low, and therefore the montly rent is likewise low.
On top of this the tenants have acquired building skills. Have accomplished something very special, thereby raising self-esteem and providing self-empowerment.
And on top of this the materials are healthy and the energy consumption from living in the houses is low.
