Camilla Broe handed over to U.S. law enforcement
04. sep. 2009 13.31 EnglishDanish citizen Camilla Broe has been handed over to U.S. law enforcement officers, and is waiting at the airport, where she will board a flight to the United States at 11:35.
At the eleventh hour, the indictment against her was changed so that the charge of conspiracy, which does not exist under Danish law, has been dropped. What remains is the charge that she smuggled 106,000 pills of ecstasy.
But neither Danish legal authorities nor Camilla Broe herself, nor her lawyer - Michael Juul Eriksen, have had a chance to review the new indictment.
- It is frightening that the Danish legal authorities have blind faith in the Americans. I feel like a cog in a political machine running between Denmark and the United States. I have no idea what I am up against, said a visibly shaken Camilla Broe only hours before she will become the first Dane ever to be extradited to the United States for prosecution.
