Our future energy will come from windmills
26. feb. 2010 14.44 EnglishDenmark should invest big in windmills and sustainable energy in order to free us from our dependence on oil and gas from unstable states, says the government. Later today, the government will present its road map for ending Denmark's dependence on fossil fuels.
A government memo states that the potential for sustainable energy is ten times today's levels, and that the greatest potential is in sea-based wind turbines.
- Sea-based wind turbines could be the crucial pivot point. In fact, studies show that the potential of sea-based wind turbines more than covers the current Danish consumption of energy, Minister for Climate and Energy Lykke Friis tells DR News.
At the moment, plans for several offshore wind farms are on the drawing board. The next project to be realized could be a large wind form in the shallow waters near Kriegers Flak off the coast of the island of Møn. The park is to be constructed in collaboration with Germany.
