Municipalities omit child oversight
01. mar. 2010 09.20 EnglishSeveral hundred of the most difficult institutionalized children and youths do not get their legally prescibed yearly visit from municipal social services. And that, says critics, might harm the children in the long run.
DR News and the Danish Association of Residential Homes have asked a number of managers of private residential homes about their experiences with municipal oversight.
The study shows that 400 children - or seven percent of all institutionalized children - did not get a visit from their caseworker last year.
According to the Social Services Act, municipalities must carry out individual oversight of institutionalized children at least once a year.
