School students free to smoke
01. mar. 2010 10.23 EnglishOnly 46 percent of Danish schools have banned students entirely from smoking during school hours. That, writes daily newspaper MetroXpress, is the conclusion of a recent study by the Danish Cancer Society.
While students cannot light up in the school yard, they can, if they have permission to leave the school during recess, smoke to their heart's content off school property.
- 46 percent is nowhere near enough, thinks project manager Poul Dengsøe Jensen from the Danish Cancer Society.
- If older students smoke during school hours, that's very bad from a prevention standpoint, he tells MetroXpress.
