Advisers want post-employment reform

02. mar. 2010 09.11 English

The government wants to reform student grants and early retirement pensions. But really, they should be looking at post-employment benefits and conditions for pensions, according to the economic advisers, who have gone over the government's plans for Denmark's economic future.

- The government is not putting enough emphasis on reforms that will ensure that Danes will retire from the labour market at a later age than is the case today, says chairman of the Danish Economic Councils, Jørgen Whitta-Jacobsen.

- If we are going to succeed in achieving sustainable public finances, it will be extremely difficult unless there's a willingness to also consider the rules for post-employment benefit and pensions, he says.
