Complaint over passport Jesus

02. mar. 2010 14.11 English

Danish passports contain an image of the crucified Jesus. The image comes from the large runic stone at Jelling, and it has been annoying a Roskilde resident for quite some time, writes daily newspaper Kristeligt Dagblad.

A Christian symbol does not belong in a passport that non-Christian citizens are equally dependent upon, thinks Karsten Riise Kristensen, and he has therefore filed a complaint with the Ministry of Justice.

- I have faith, but I subscribe to no religion, because I do not believe in religious systems, he says.

The complaint has been circulated to the members of the Parliamentary Legal Affairs Committee, who have asked for a comment from Minister of Justice Lars Barfoed.
