Brought up on charges for Christian job ad

04. mar. 2010 14.27 English

"We expect you, personally, to be Christian". That sentence in a 2008 job posting from missionary organization Dansk Europamission has now prompted the police to charge both Dansk Europamission and daily newspaper Kristeligt Dagblad, who printed the ad.

According to the Equal Rights in the Labour Market Act, it is illegal to discriminate on the basis of religion. The case has now been handed over to the Public Prosecutor's Office.

That, however, is a problem, thinks church social aid organization Kirkens Korshær, who feels that all client contact staff should be members of the national church of Denmark.
