370.000 without income if fired
05. mar. 2010 09.27 English370.000 Danes have no economic safety net in case they are laid off. They are eligible to receive neither unemployment benefit nor cash benefit, according to a recent study by the Economic Council of the Labour Movement.
500,000 Danes are not members of an unemployment insurance fund, and thus have no right to unemployment benefit.
But 370,000 of these are not eligible for cash benefit either, should they be laid off.
The explanation is that they have money saved up, that their spouse has a high income, or that they have equity built up in their homes.
