New study of returning soldiers

05. mar. 2010 09.49 English

A new research project is meant to uncover how Danish soldiers feel when they return home, and how they do in society, writes daily newspaper Jyllands-Posten.

Do they wind up on early retirement pension or in a life of crime? Do they get divorced? And what is the suicide rate?

The initiative comes from independent soldiers' foundation Soldaterlegatet, who has joined forces with the Danish National Centre for Social Research, and the project will cost an estimated DKK 6.5 million.

The project will study how the roughly 25,000 Danish soldiers that have been sent out on international military operations since 1992 have been doing since they got back to Denmark.
