Money for research spent on teaching
05. mar. 2010 10.22 EnglishUniversities are so strapped for funds for teaching that they have transferred DKK 1.2 billion set aside for research over to the teaching budget, writes daily newspaper Politiken.
- Roughly six percent of the Aarhus University turnover - DKK 300 to 400 million - is in fact being shifted from research to teaching activities, says president of Aarhus University, Lauritz B. Holm-Nielsen.
The result is that researchers have to apply for grants in order to be able to continue their projects. Additionally, the government's stated objective to spend 1 percent of the gross national product on research will be impossible to meet.
