Varying poverty lines
10. mar. 2010 09.29 EnglishThere are vast variations in how poor you have to be in order to get financial aid from your municipality to help cover unforeseen expenses, according to a study by daily newspaper Politiken.
Aalborg residents have it best. If their household budget is less than DKK 4,073 a month, they can hope for financial aid from the municipality.
In Greve, however, residents must have less than DKK 2300 at their disposal each month before the municipality steps in with a helping hand.
Minister for Employment Inger Støjberg thinks that the numbers show that municipal autonomy is blossoming. We must allow room for that.
