No information on drug reimbursement rights

11. mar. 2010 09.35 English

Danes with a large consumption of medicine have the right to so-called chronic sufferer's reimbursement. That means that they won't have to pay more than a maximum of DKK 3,500 a year out of their own pockets.

But patients have to discover the right to reimbursement for themselves. Neither doctors nor pharmacies are obligated to inform patients of the reimbursements.

- According to the Health Act, nobody is duty-bound to inform about this. And it is a matter for the politicians to decide whether somebody ought to be duty-bound to do so, says Karen Kolenda from the Danish Medicines Agency.

You can find pamphlets about the reimbursements at the pharmacy.
