Police: escape not our fault

11. mar. 2010 14.22 English

There were no signs that a murder suspect was going to attempt escape from the Psychiatric Hospital in Aalborg.

- We had moved him in and out of detention, we had transported him on previous occasions, and we had taken him in for psychiatric evaluation on previous occasions. There were no indications that he was going to attempt an escape, says Chief Superintendent of Police Ole Henriksen of the Central and West Jutland Police.

If police had any reason to think that the murder suspect had planned an escape, there would have been more officers on hand, and the transport would have been carried out in another fashion.

The Chief Superintendent thinks the Psychiatric Hospital in Aalborg are responsible for the successful escape.

- If they don't close the door or the window, it is our feeling that the problem lies with them, says Ole Henriksen.
