Many tax violations in restaurants
11. mar. 2010 15.22 EnglishCopenhagen restaurants still find it hard to stay within the bounds of the law. Last week, the tax authorities in SKAT began their yearly workplace visits season by visiting 20 restaurants, and bringing along immigration authorities and food safety authorities.
76 persons had their affiliations with the restaurants looked over, and the result was that 17 people are now suspected of moonlighting. Furthermore, authorities came across two people who were working illegally in Denmark, and who were therefore arrested by the police.
Other sectors up for inspection
SKAT concludes that problems with the law are so prevalent in the restaurant sector that the inspections will continue throughout the year, in cooperation with other authorities.
But that is not all - other business sectors are about to find themselves in the spotlight. According to SKAT, the focus will be on markets, newspaper distribution companies, taxi companies, bars, construction sites, corner shops, greengrocers, fishermen, print advertising distributors, and massage parlours.
