Dentists in favour of free check-ups

If young people get free dental check-ups until the age of 21, rather than 18, many people will be spared large dentist's bills later in life, says the Danish Dental Association in response to a proposal by Dansk Folkeparti.

- Many young people think there is nothing wrong with their teeth, so they let a lot of time pass, and they come in after a few years with some major cavities, says Susanne Andersen, president of the Danish Dental Association.

- The scheme would mean that young people would get another push towards seeing a dentist on a regular basis once they leave municipal dental care, she says.
