Sabbatical year less popular
30. jul. 2010 13.22 EnglishFewer prospective students take a sabbatical year before enrolling in further education. That's one of the underlying reasons for the large number of applications for enrollment in further education programs this year.
These days, young people generally take only one sabbatical year, or none at all. 64 percent of the new inductees in further education programmes are 21 or younger.
The financial crisis means that many young people can't afford to go on the grand tour or enroll in folk high schools.
- They have a hard time finding a job, which they need in order to make the money to finance their travels, says youth expert Henriette Tolstrup Holmegaard.
