DKK 40 to withdraw money at Danske Bank
22. jan. 2013 13.02 EnglishCustomers at Danske Bank who want to withdraw money from a teller at the counter will soon experience an increase in service charges. In future, customers will have to pay DKK 40 to withdraw money; that is, if they can find a bank with a teller in the first place.
The implementation of the new price policy also entails dividing customers into six different profile groups according to their level of debt and which loans they have obtained at the bank.
The DKK 40 charge to withdraw funds at the counter will be paid by all customers, irrespective of their grouping. Previously, the charge was as high as DKK 15, depending on the type of customer.
Do not expect others to follow their example
Nina Munch-Perrin, business correspondent for DR News, does not believe that other banks will be eager to follow in Danske Bank’s footsteps and implement charges on withdrawals.
“The subscription scheme that Danske Bank launched on Friday may find favour with other banks, because it is about consolidating sporadic charges into one. The DKK 40 withdrawal fee is less sellable and I don’t think other banks will fall over themselves to implement it. Other banks charge a fee for the teller withdrawal service, but these are far smaller and sometimes a certain number of withdrawals can be made for free before the service charge becomes effective,” said Munch-Perrin.
If customers want to avoid the increased service charge, Munch-Perrin offers this advice:
“Take out money at the supermarket when you do your shopping.”
