‘Dark horse’ wins DK Eurovision contest
29. jan. 2013 13.45 EnglishHitherto unknown performer Emmelie de Forest sang her way into Danish hearts and triumphed in the Danish version of the Eurovision song contest, well ahead of the predicted favourites.
The show aired from Boxen Arena in Herning on Saturday and for the first time, the event was hosted by no less than three female presenters: Sofie Lassen-Kahlke, Louise Wolff and Lise Rønne.
Popular vote won
After the grand finale, the jury of industry professionals cast their votes and awarded 1, 2 and 3 points each to the three finalists, causing a tie between the top two performers.
The rest of the points were bestowed by popular vote and in the spirit of fair play, the public had the same number of votes as the jury – 30 points.
These were divided according to the percentage of votes received by each contestant and after a moment of anxious anticipation, the hosts revealed that Emmelie de Forest had received 15 points from the viewers – 50 per cent of the popular vote – making her the clear winner of the Danish Eurovision song contest 2013.
