Green investments need coordinating

Opdat.: 01. feb. 2013 14.21In the coming years, Denmark's transition to green energy will require an investment of around DKK 125 billion in wind turbines, biogas plants, expanded district heating and conversion of cogeneration plants to biomass.
Risk of wrong investments
The Danish Energy Association believes there is a serious risk, however, that the wrong investments could be made because Minister for Climate, Energy and Building Martin Lidegaard (SocLib) has not yet come up with an overall strategy through to 2020.
Several parties are pointing out the need for a timetable to prevent wrong investments so that companies and consumers do not end up footing the bill.
Call for firm government handling
The Liberals, the Conservatives, the Danish District Heating Association, the Danish Energy Association and the Danish Construction Association are all calling for firm government handling of the green conversion.
Professor Henrik Lund of the Department of Development and Planning at Aalborg University agrees with the criticism.
"Not all municipalities can have an incineration plant for waste if other municipalities are supplying the waste. The same applies for wind turbines, biogas and use of biomass in power plants. There is a lack of coordination," Lund told Jyllands-Posten.
