Billion-kroner discount on EU budget
08. feb. 2013 13.19 EnglishDenmark has been offered a discount totalling DKK 1 billion on the credit side through negotiations on the EU’s long-term budget, according to news agency Ritzau.
The Danish price reduction is part of the proposal made by Herman Van Rompuy, President of the European Council, to the heads of Member States at a summit in Brussels early Friday morning.
The discount enabled PM Helle Thorning-Schmidt (SocDem) to approve the current budget proposal and according to a source close to the proceeding, the next step will be “to bring it all home”.
According to Ritzau, Denmark is the only new member state in Van Pompuy’s proposal to be granted a reduction on the budget.
