Project Manager for DR Big Band

Opdat.: 04. feb. 2013 10.53DR Big Band is looking for a visionary and experienced Project Manager.
The Project Manager is responsible for the running of DR Big Band in accordance with the overall strategy of DR Ensembles and in co-operation with the other ensembles, the Danish National Chamber Orchestra, the Danish National Symphony Orchestra and the Danish National Choirs.
The Project Manager refers directly to the Director of the DR Big Band.
The duties of the Project Manager include:

Planning of concert projects, broadcasts, tours and CD/DVD recordings in co-operation with the Repertoire Group of the DR Big Band

Engagements of domestic and international soloists and conductors

Budgets and accounts
-
Profiling and branding of DR Big Band
The Project Manager must possess:

A comprehensive knowledge of and documented experience in working with jazz music and other jazz-related music

Knowledge and insight into the current jazz scene, domestic as well as international
-
Management experience within the arts
-
Insight into collaboration between the executive level, the orchestra and conductors

Exceptional insight into working with artists in long-term strategies of musical development
-
An extensive international network of contacts and understanding of the Scandinavian Jazz Scene and the desire to develop a good understanding of the Danish Jazz Scene

A desire to participate in the joint development of all DR’s ensembles

Social and human skills and a high level of empathy

Flair for communication
Through long-term work with artists and musicians the Project Manager shall develop the DR Big Band continuously, whilst maintaining the high level of quality expected from this historically significant ensemble.

The DR Big Band, founded in 1964, is the leading big band in Denmark and forms an integrated part of DR Ensembles. The Big Band produces around 25 concerts plus repeats per season with broadcasts on all DR medias and platforms.
The musicians of DR Big Band are employed 6 months a year – from 1 October – 1 April. In addition the Band plays a number of concerts during the summer season.
All the ensembles: Danish National Symphony Orchestra, Danish National Chamber Orchestra, DR Big Bandet, Danish National Vocal Ensemble, Danish National Choir, Danish National Girls Choir and the Choral School belong to the department of DR Ensembles. DR Ensembles produce and present live music at the highest international level for all DR medias and platforms, and with a focus towards all age- and target groups. It is our aim to deliver sublime artistic quality and make as large an audience as possible appreciate high-quality music.
