Sådan lød konkurrence-teksten til 'Kærlighedspolitiet':
Why marry a foreigner? Do you have to be in love when you are married? Can you find out if married people actually love each other or not?
Impossible questions to answer perhaps, unless you happen to be Danish, that is, and choose to marry a foreigner.
In Denmark people who choose to marry someone from another country have to prove that their marriage is a real marriage not just an excuse to get someone a new visa or passport. That’s why the Danish immigration office has compiled a set of questions and procedures designed to test just how real a marriage is, and employed the immigration police to report on the way people live and behave after they have made their vows. The only thing they do not seem to want to check up on is, whether or not the people they deal with actually love each other or not.
Krister Moltzen’s feature ‘The Love Police’ takes an unconventional look at the activities of the immigration office, asks questions about exactly why and how the government dictates it’s immigration policies, and then puts Denmark’s most ordinary married couple to the test.
