DR - Danish Broadcasting Corporation
The Danish Broadcasting Corporation, a public service organisation, was founded in 1925, and enjoyed a monopoly on radio and TV broadcasting until 1986. The Danish Broadcasting Corporation is an independent, licence-financed public institution. As a public service station, DR has obligations towards the entire population to provide versatile and varied programming. Together with our distribution of independent producers, programmes and archives, you are provided with the opportunity to choose from a broad selection.
DR comprises two channels, DR1 and DR2. DR1, founded in 1951, is broadcast on a cable network. DR2 is a satellite channel, which was founded in 1996. A growing number of television programmes are broadcast in wide-screen 16:9 format. Since 1997 DR has transmitted television on the Internet, including daily news transmissions.
DR International Sales is an independent department of this highly professional institution. The purpose of the department is to co-produce and distribute good quality programmes on a world wide basis.
