While the Middle East was on fire in reaction to the Muhammed drawings published in Jyllands-Posten, two prominent Danish Muslims became the centre of the whole world’s attention. Imam Ahmed Akkari, spokesman for the Danish-based European Committee for Prophet Honouring, the umbrella group that represented the 27 Muslim organisations campaigning for a full apology from the newspaper. And MP Naser Khader, founder of the Muslim Democratic Group.
The world witnessed the personal and ideological clashes between the two men as they came to represent opposite sides of the conflict. The film depicts through their personal stories, the dramatic and hectic period when the Muhammed drawings put Denmark at the forefront of an incendiary, global debate on faith and democracy.
