When to register?

In Denmark anyone who has a television or a computer, smartphone or tablet with internet access has to pay a media licence.

If you are over the age of 18 and have an appliance subject to the media licence, you have to be covered by a media licence.

You must

register
for a media licence regardless of whether you make use of
DR
or other services funded by media licence funds. When you have an appliance subject to the media licence fee, you must be registered with a media licence.

Exceptions – instances when you are not required to register

There are two instances when you are not required to

register
with a media licence:

1. If you have none of the appliances subject to the media licence fee.

2. If you are covered by another persons’ media licence. You are covered by your spouse, your partner or by your parents if you share an address. You are not covered by any other persons media licence, not even if you share an address with that person.

Law on the media licence

The laws on the media licence are set by Parliament and are described in the Executive Order on Licence Fees by the Ministry of Culture.

DR
collects the licence in accordance with this order.
